Welcome to the APC

alabama productivity center The Alabama Productivity Center (APC), a nonprofit organization at the University of Alabama, works to improve Alabama companies' quality, productivity, and competitiveness through the use of the University's research and educational resources.

The mission of the Center is "to focus university resources on the enhancement of productivity and quality in Alabama firms through applied, problem-solving oriented research and technical assistance." The center follows a “business model” that utilizes University graduate students, faculty, labs, and full-time professional field staff. Unlike many student-based outreach programs however, the center uses a managed approach to all projects; that is, the professional staff of the center is a key component of each project, ensuring that the project is managed in a business like way.
